Colorado HealthStory believes that everyone has a valuable story to tell. But collecting stories isn’t enough. We also believe that far too few conversations about health and the health care system are being grounded in the experiences of everyday Coloradans. That’s why we strive to create safe spaces to amplify local community member’s voices.
We partner with organizations and community members to incorporate our stories into new and existing community events and conversations. We host community forums and play our stories at partner organizations’ community events.
Each story provides unique insight into the experience of health in a local community. From a tragic story about lack of access to health care, to an inspirational story about a community taking action to improve their health and wellness, each story can teach us about how to make our communities healthier. Taken together, a collective body of stories is even more powerful.
Community forums and events that incorporate our stories give community members a chance to listen to stories, hear first-hand accounts, and to participate in dialogue about the health of their community. In some communities, we publish community health profiles that couple local health data with our stories to enrich the conversations even more.
We’ve held a number of forums across the state. Check out our Communities Page for a recap of several forums we’ve held.
